For many, Easter is the high point of the Christian calendar when we recall the events of Holy Week and Easter Sunday, the culmination of God’s plan for salvation of all things, in all creation, through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We will be remembering and celebrating in various ways in each of the churches. We would be delighted to welcome you to join us in festival worship.
WORSHIP FOR HOLY WEEK & EASTER 2022
PALM SUNDAY
On Palm Sunday we mark the “Triumphal Entry” of Jesus into Jerusalem. The crowds laid their coats on the group as a carpet and waved palm branches like flags, shouting “Hosanna!” (God save us) and praises to greet Jesus. Our worship will include the distribution of palm crosses.

MAUNDY THURSDAY
Maundy Thursday marks the day when Jesus and his close disciples gathered to celebrate Passover. The met in an “Upper Room” and shared this ancient feast. During this time Jesus, with great love and humility, washed the feet of his disciples. Later as they shared bread and wine he gave new meaning to these simple things. At “The Last Supper” he gave command to continue to remember him in breaking bread and pouring wine as symbols of his sacrifice.

GOOD FRIDAY
On Good Friday we recall the trial, suffering and death of Jesus on the cross. It seems strange to call a day filled with such dreadful things “good” but Christ died to save everyone from the consequences of selfishness, wrongdoing and death itself.

EASTER SUNDAY
Easter Sunday is a day of great celebration – the day of resurrection when we celebrate the risen Lord Jesus, back from the dead. We declare, “Alleluia, Christ is risen! He is risen indeed, Alleluia!” a statement of faith and certainty. Through Jesus we can all be reborn into new life, life as it was meant to be, for ever with God.
